We are actively recruiting volunteers to send a letter, email or call 10 friends to make them aware of The Big Moo Canoe project. Helping is easy and we will give you everything you need to succeed. Please reference the resources below and call Rob Bean (970) 266-0252 if you have questions. We also have a FAQ and press kit available that will help you answer any additional questions about the canoe challenge or Heifer International.

Hi, this is (your name) calling, I hope all is well with you. I am calling to let you know about The Big Moo Canoe, an exciting, 250 mile canoe challenge that a (member of our church) or (a friend of mine) is doing in June. The event is helping to help raise money and awareness for Heifer International. Heifer is an organization that has been successfully fighting the root causes of poverty by delivering farm training and livestock all around the world. Our team is hoping to raise $5,000 and would ask that you to visit www.MooCanoe.com, to learn more about the project and make a tax-deductable donation today. Do you think you would be interested in doing this? Can I answer any additional questions for you?

Subject: I’m spreading the moos.

Dear family and friends –

I wanted to tell you about a pretty fun and unique fundraiser that a (member of our church) or (friend of mine) is doing. It’s called The Big Moo Canoe challenge, a 250 mile canoe marathon that is happening in June. And I’m spreading the moos and asking folks to join the herd, too. www.MooCanoe.com

Rob Bean, has set out to raise awareness and money for the charity, Heifer International. It’s pretty neat what this organization does. Heifer uses gifts of livestock and education to help end poverty. Animals like cows, llamas, and water buffalo provide poor families with a natural, living source of food, materials to make clothes, labor for farming, transportation, and much more.

And through Heifer’s “pass on the gift” program, livestock recipients agree to share their animal’s offspring with other needy families. And those families agree to do the same, and so on. And over time, entire communities – not just a family – are able to rise out of poverty and lead happier, healthier, more self-reliant lives. As Heifer says, “It’s the gift that grows.” Udderly brilliant, isn’t it?

So, the challenge? Rob will paddle his canoe a grueling 250 miles in three days on the North Platte River in Wyoming this summer. That’s about 100,000 paddle strokes and 45 hours on the water. Rob has signed up to do all the hard work, which made it pretty easy for me to support the effort.

So, I invite you to join the herd. The goal of The Big Moo Canoe challenge is to raise at least $5,000 for Heifer. We think it’s pretty admirable what Rob is doing, and hope you’ll join us in supporting him, too.

Here’s what you can do:

> “Spread the moos” by forwarding this e-mail to anyone who might be interested - family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, paddlers, church groups, youth groups, senior groups...

> Visit Heifer International online at www.heifer.org to learn more about:

    • All of the remarkable benefits that livestock provide people
