Call your friends, pack your dry bags, and join the Big Moo Canoe for Heifer International and make a lasting impact in the lives of families all over the globe.
For more than 60 years, Heifer International has been working around the world to provide opportunities that bring entire communities out of poverty while delivering lasting hope for a better tomorrow. Your effort can be a big part of "Passing on the gift". You can help by turning your paddling trip into a charitable event in support of Heifer International.
Challenge ideas
Choose a group goal, a fun challenge, raise a little money and have a blast
- Canoe and Kayak clubs - Convert an exisiting event into a Big Moo Canoe Day or develop a new event just for this special occasion. View a few ideas of how a club might stage a Big Moo Canoe event for your members.
- Youth groups - Looking for a fun way to beat the heat with your restless youth this summer? Take them canoeing on a local river or lake and make it a teachable event. Plan a day on the water with your kids and bring along your copy of Beatrice's Goat. Read them the story of how a small goat became a turning point for a small girl. Help your kids find inspiration, a giving spirit and develop a charitable heart.
- Scout troops - You already have a day to get your boating merit badge planned, so let your scouts help organize this fun event and get two badges out of one event.
- Family or Friends Outing - Plan or convert an existing trip to a "Paddle with a Purpose" event and use your adventure to help families in need.
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has - Margaret Mead (1901 - 1978)
Don't have a boat?
No problem at all. If you want to participate in the Big Moo Canoe you can always rent a boat at a local canoe livery. Check out this national guide or go to Google and type in "Canoe rentals in (your state)".
