I support Heifer because their programs focus on solving complex issues through personal investment and education while promoting self-reliance within communities. I know that I am extremely blessed; I am healthy, I have a loving family, am gainfully employed, live in a beautiful place and have more than I could ever need. I also have a desire to effect change in our world.
I have always been crazy about the water; from canoeing and sailing to water skiing, kite surfing and kayaking. Several years back I was getting reacquainted with canoe racing and felt a desire to share my sport with others. One of my initial thoughts was to develop a long distance canoe challenge in support of a charitable organization. It is not a new concept but I thought it would be a great way to promote an organization by attracting some initial attention through my unconventional sport, It has taken some time but the two ideas have merged and have become "The Big Moo Canoe".
